The Dropout presents: Issue 4 release party at Fast Folks
Scott and Leana are about to release issue 4 of The Dropout, and you know what that means right? Time for a party!
Come out and check out our new issue. As always we have an epic amount of free beer to douse the bike community's liver. It's always a good time...trust me you don't want to miss this. Raffle, beer, bikes.
Show gets on the road around 7pm this Sunday, and lasts until the beer runs out. If the last few parties have been any indication, that means it goes for a WHILE. See y'all there!
A smokin' flyer to go along with a HOT HOT HOT event!
I know what I'm doing Sunday night...
I missed the first one of these, made the second, and if the rest are even HALF that much fun I hereby vow to NEVER miss another Dropout event again. These guys can throw a fucking PARTY! 7pm this Sunday at everybody's favorite Fixed Gear boutique: FAST FOLKS CYCLERY!
Be there, suckas. And for the love of god it's a fucking bike party, so ride your bike! If I see any more of you parking two blocks away and unloading so you can show up on your sexy fixed gear machine in style, I'm going to give you so much shit. Yeah, you. You know who I'm talking to.
The Dropout Issue 3 Release Party! This Sunday at Fast Folks Cyclery
Also happening this Sunday, though beginning a couple hours earlier, is another event I'm REALLY excited about: The Dropout Issue 3 Release Party! FUCKING A! I'm sure y'all have seen some of the pre-release shots from this issues bicycle pin-up photoshoot, but if not let me tell you they're smoking hot. Y'all don't even know. Want to be some of the first public to see 'em? Drop by Fast Folks on 6th Street round 7ish and pick up an issue, grab a beer, and chill with all your biking friends. The press them Dropout folks wrote for the event is pretty funny, so here it goes:
I wanted to write something clever and cute to entice you to come to our Issue #3 release party but really...what's the point. There are exactly three reasons why you will not be missing this one
1) The Dropout's first full color BIKE PIN UP ISSUE
2) BEER
3) Everyone, and I do mean everyone is going. All your friends, all your crushes, all the people who own bikes you drool over, all your secret fans, creepy or not, they are all coming and going to have a wicked awesome time.
So if this is your first time, here's the drill. Show up earlyish7 or 8 as we usually get shut down around 11 or 12. Drink free Lonestar, get your very own copy of our super hot bike pin up issue for $5, get a raffle ticket with each magazine purchase and maybe win some sweet prizes. Get your very own Bike Pin Up spoke card if one of the girls strikes your fancy and kick it with Austin's best bike kids. Then we will all head over to Liberty to finish off the night and hug.
Much love and many bicycles,
The Dropout
I couldn't have said it better. See y'all there!
P.S. if you can't make it and want a copy of the issue anyways, you can pick them up at fine local bike shops, or even order a subscription from the website. Get on it quick though because this issue is sure to sell out.
My friends are hotter than your friends.
Just saw a little sneak peek at a shot from the up-coming Dropout 'Zine pinup issue:
Damn Ruthie, you're making me think impure thoughts and I kinda like it. Ok I really like it.
I love life in Austin, TX.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!
Check out this photoblog for a preview of the pinup shoot that happened over the weekend for The Dropout Zine. Fucking HOT. I also heard a couple of the polo ladies were getting their pictures taken soon for the issue as well, so I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing the final product...

Damn, Austin rules. Moreso, the people at The Dropout are pretty fucking badass themselves. Though only on their third issue they're already going to full cover perfect bound printing, upping the size of the 'zine, offering subscriptions and even delivering them by bicycle if you happen to be a local. Shit man, I'm impressed. Want more details on what's going on in the world of The Dropout Zine or want to sign up for a subscription? Check out their website for all the details.
Dropout Issue 2 Release Party happening SOON @ Fast Folks
I got word a few days ago from Scott (editor of the 'zine) about another issue release party scheduled for early next year:
January 3rd, 7pm at Fast Folks is where the magic happens. Lone Star pitched in THIRTY CASES of their product, so drop by and help make it disappear. The 'zine itself is $5 if you want a copy, and that'll get you a raffle ticket for some killer prizes. Bring a bike, I'm sure at some point a ride might break out. Check out The Dropout's Facebook page for more details.
Dropout Issue #1 release party @ Fast Folks
There's a brand new print 'zine about to show up in the shops around town that focuses SPECIFICALLY on the wild and wacky local bike culture, entitled "The Dropout". To herald its' arrival, the crew behind the 'zine is going to be throwing a release party at Fast Folks on the first of November:
Wondering what this is all about? Wonder no more, as are the words from their website about what the 'zine is gonna cover:
The Dropout is coming! It’s Austin’s new indie press zine focused exclusively on bicycle culture in Austin. It is our intention to create a zine that spotlights the people and the businesses that make the Austin bike culture thrive. We hope to use this publication to reinforce the current community.
Our content will include bike relevant news and events, spotlights on local bike shops and businesses, profiles on the people that drive the community, tips on who’s offering discounts for cyclists, and much much more.
The first issue comes out November 1st and will be available at book stores, café’s, bike shops, and many more locations for $5 an issue. Given the feedback we have already received, we are confident that The Dropout will become a popular publication within the Austin bike community.
Sound familiar? Can't wait to see it! The first issue features interviews and writeups with such folks as local bicycle fashion designer Russell Stinnett, the Fast Folks Cyclery people, and I believe some coverage on one of the better-known local blogs, Austin on Two Wheels.
